FDE and software engineer roles
An FDE may build around the needs of a particular customer and spend more time on discovery and adoption. Other software engineering roles may focus on a shared product or platform. This is a difference in emphasis, not a fixed boundary: both can involve customer contact, design, coding and production responsibility.
